AMD vs Intel QNX Install question
I apologize if this question is in the wrong forum. Also I am a virtual QNX newbie. I have some Unix/Linux experience,
 but mainly DOS/Windows. My problem is I have an old ISA computer running QNX. The CPU was replaced, but I believe the
 original CPU was an Intel and it was replaced with an AMD.

The install doesn't like that. The boot goes like this:

/bin/Fsys terminated (SIGSEGV) at 0005:0001B609
Path=0 -IDE
 target=0 lun=0  Direct-Access(0)- FUJITSU MPE3136A Rev:
mount -p: open() on /dev/hd0 failed: No such file or directory

Prior to the last line there was an error at the top of the screen saying something like error opening Fsys.bin (not
sure of the file extension).

My newbie question is, is it an easy change to configure for an AMD processor instead of an Intel processor. Is it as
easy as replacing some files with the AMD version? If so, can someone let me know which files I need to replace?
Otherwise I have to look around for an appropriate Socket A Intel processor. Thanks or any help!

Bob

That must be very old because I didn't know AMD made Intel pin compatible processors .

QNX4 doesn't care about processor model/brand. There is nothing to change in fact there is nothing that can be changed
;-)

 If so, can someone let me know which files I need to replace?

Socket A is AMD only, I couldn't have been an Intel CPU in the first place.

Why was the CPU changed in the first place, sounds to me like you have a hardware problem which is causing Fsys to crash
.

Re: AMD vs Intel QNX Install question
I did mis-speak (mis-type). It is a socket 7 processor and both AMD K6-2 and Intel Pentium MMX processors are
apparently pin-compatible. As noted, I will move this to the other forum listed. Thanks for the input.

Fsys means it QNX4. A more appropriate forum is : http://community.qnx.com/sf/discussion/do/listTopics/projects.
