help!!!!!!!Unable to access /dev/hd0t179
I am trying to install QNX 6.4.0 on PC
PC is equipped with SATA hard disk. windows 7 installed in first 400 Gb of disk, next 100 GB un-allocated for QNX
partition.

1) After I select "Install to hard drive" option installer writes on screen:
...
Trying SATA ahci. Scanning for devices...

Trying EIDE. Scanning for devices...
... found 2 devices

Detected USB. Scanning for devices...

Trying SATA mvSATA. Scanning for devices...

Hello there,

Started installation is interrupted with message on screen:
"unable to access /dev/hd0t179
Mounting filesystems...
Partition installation aborted!
Please remove the installation media, then reboot your machine"

It is interesting that QNX file system is created on hard drive when I look at disk partitions using disk partition tool
 after reboot.

I read a thread said a solution is enlarge the exsiting patition, but I don't understand what is this meaning?http://
community.qnx.com/sf/discussion/do/listPosts/projects.community/discussion.qnx_momentics_getting_started.topc8694

Can anyone explain this solution or any other solutions??

Many thanks in advance!

Jason

Hi Jason.

Your problem appears to be related to this:

http://community.qnx.com/sf/go/topc8694

How did you actually install? I thought the installation failed so what
steps did you take to complete the installation? Or did that happen after
the first attempt (unable to mount /dev/hd0t179)?

As for the bootmgr issue the Neutrino installer made it's partition active.
However it didn't install our primary boot loader I guess due to the above
issue. If it had you would see a prompt on boot asking which partition to
boot from.

The best way to fix it is the "windows way":

 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919529

The other is to run Neutrino from CD then fire up fdisk and make the dos
partition active. If you need more information (i.e. if the windows method
doesn't work) let me know.

Once you get your windows partition sorted out could you reboot using the
Neutrino CD and choose the "Run from CD" option? Then from a terminal run
the following two commands:

fdisk /dev/hd0 show
fdisk /dev/hd0 info

If I can get the output of these I can confirm that it is the same problem
as earlier.

Thanks,
Keith Russell
