Re: Can't install SDP 6.4.1 on Dell Optiplex 760
I'm sorry, my previous reply was in error (this was a different machine)
The PS/2 issue is not why Dell Optiplex 760 won't boot QNX.
The boot process stops early, even before booting the kernel.
When it boots from a CD, it displays a message "booting QNX SDP...." then - nothing.
(v. 6.3.2 CD displays "Hit ESC for .altboot..........)
When it boots off a SATA disk, installed on older PC - it prompts for partition, then prompts for a boot loader.
Whatever bootloader I select, it hangs after message "QNX v1.2b Boot Loader: qnxbase.ifs ....." and then - nothing.
This is a Intel Core Quad machine, has a SATA DVD,
3 GB RAM, no PATA controllers and no PS/2.
Switching SATA modes (ATA, legacy, AHCI) does not help.
I've disconnected all other disks and devices.
Isn't it embarassing that the latest version of a high reliability OS won't provide a single clue about a reason of the
failure, and just hangs, like the old MS DOS?
So since it is not a PS/2 issue, what else can we try before dumping this (otherwise quite good) machine?
- S.
