Net.bcm57xx wouldnt work in GigE mode
Using QNX on Dell PowerEdge 860. Can't get Net.bcm57xx driver to set
ethernet to 1000 Mb, best it will do is 100 Mb FD.
Anyone have a work around ?

Dave

RE: Net.bcm57xx wouldnt work in GigE mode
Please try the attached version and let me know if it solves the
problem. If not, I will need the output from 'show_pci -v'.

Thanks.

Hugh,

Thanks for the quick response.
The new driver did not work.

Here is the information
Dell 860 connected to a LinkSys SRW2016 v1.2 GigE switch
Net.bcm57xx -I0 -l1 -M &

Output on screen (handcopied...sorry)
PCI-EXpress card (4101)!
cpuspeed 1844 - bias 16 -features 734
bus 5 -devfn 0 -port fx4f0000
i/o port fe6f0000
interrupt 5
active phy 5750
link down
buffer stuck at 248!
link up (100bT FD)

Thanks
Dave

Please try the attached debug version of the driver and let me know what
it displays on the screen. It should either display "Set Advert xx" or
"No GB advert". Also, if you force the speed and duplex, does it then
work at gigabit speed?

Thanks, Hugh.

Hugh

Says
Set advert 300
an enable

Also went to 1000 bT FD by itself
Both broadcomm ethernet ports set correctly
I have 4 machines, doing flood ping of 1500 bytes over the GigE from 3 machines to 1 common machine resulted in 15000
packets / sec xmit and recv
for 180 Mb/sec xmit and rcvr rates

Dave,

So are you saying that the driver is working correctly? If so, I will
removed the debug and send you a new driver.

Hugh,

Hugh,

Yes, driver looks like it is working quite well.

Thanks
Dave

Do have a question
What does warning "buffer stuck at 248!!" mean ?

RE: RE: RE: RE: Net.bcm57xx wouldnt work in GigE mode
There is a bug on the Broadcom chips where the receive buffer sticks
only once after initialization and has to be un-stuck! The message is
just a warning. Here is the non-debug driver.
