Forum Topic - runtime kit for QNX 6.4 ??: (3 Items)

runtime kit for QNX 6.4 ??
Hello,

Embedded Computing Design wrote 2006:
"QNX Neutrino X86 runtime kit
Simplifies the process of making user-devised changes to an RTOS".

This seems now not to be the case in 2009? The runtime kit of QNX 6.3 is discontinued for QNX6.4 .... that means all
customers using the RT kit of 6.3 can't switch to 6.4.

The automation market is a huge market of third party software for e.g. SCADA and visualization systems, OPC
communication, IEC61131 and IEC61499 programming tools and a lot of other products ... but there is no OS base for it !

The question is now: how can a customer of a third party product buy a runtime and its license for QNX 6.4 ??

RE: runtime kit for QNX 6.4 ??
Hi, Armin.

I don't know about the licensing, but 6.4.0 includes instructions for
creating your own runtime kit:

http://www.qnx.com/developers/docs/6.4.0/neutrino/technotes/howto_rtkit.
html

The note on the website is newer than the one included in the installed
6.4.0 documentation.

OK, thanks.

Why is it not possible to create a different license key for a full x86 runtime?

We could use the standard installation DVD and the installation process for Neutrino could stop after installing the
full runtime for Momentics !
Such a license key could be offered by a QSS webstore e.g. ....

If someone would need an customized runtime he can do it with the runtime kit procedure and the individual licensing.

Best Regards
