QNX licences and closed source
Hi all,
I have a question about the possibility of the use of QNX in an industrial environment.
This kind of environment, due to IP (intellectual property), prefer to use code not subject to GPL-like licence, where
is necessary to expose the code.
Now the question is: the 6.4.0 platform have some code in some licence type and copyright (Apache, BSD, "Copyright (C)
1995-1998 Eric Young"???), are this kind of licence dangerous for IP protection?

Mario.
RE: QNX licences and closed source
Hi Mario,

Proposing a clean IP solution is one of QNX's strength; the company is
very serious about protecting its customers from GPL-like viral
licenses.

The only GPL-like code used by QNX is for tools that you would use in
your development environment (e.g. the compiler and the debugger). There
is no GPL-like viral code in the QNX code that you would put on a target
environment. The runtime side is clean and that is what matters since
the code you write and distribute sits on the runtime side as well and
won't be infected.

That said; we do use some open source on the runtime front as well, but
only with non-viral licenses such as Apache and BSD.

For more information on QNX's licensing; see
http://www.qnx.com/legal/licensing/index.html. If you are interested in
using QNX for commercial use, have a look at the Commercial Software
License Agreement section
(http://www.qnx.com/legal/licensing/commercial.html)
