How to shutdown system properly

QNX has a "shutdown" command.
I'd like to have a look at the source of the command in order to shutdown Filesystem properly before power off.
In a word, could QNX release the source code of the pre-build Application for reference, such as ls, cp, mv, shutdown, 
ifconfig.....

Why don't you write your own script, where you can controll every killing or ending of your desired processes before 
finally "shutdown" ?
